Peter McGlashan, the Northern Knights wicket-keeper who is constantly improving or designing new cricket gear, has come up with something novel once again. For the HRV Cup, the domestic Twenty20 competition, McGlashan is wearing pink AERO wicket-keeping pads to go with the Northern Knights pink playing uniform.

The pink playing uniform and pink pads are being worn to grow awareness and support for the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation.

However, the real spin on this is that Pete has asked every player in the competition to sign them as he played against them. The pads will then go to the highest bidder on a TradeMe auction that will close on Thursday 28th January. All proceeds from this auction will go to the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation.

Pete says, “The cause is very dear to me and my family and I wanted to try and do something that will grow awareness and hopefully raise some significant funding for the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation”.

A replica pair of pink pads have been signed too and kept in near mint condition in case the wear and tear of the HRV Cup is a bit much for some of the autographs on the original pair. The TradeMe auction winner will have the choice of which pair of pink pads they receive.
